Ash Not Going to Cannes After All

Although Aishwarya Bachchan — formerly Aishwarya Rai — has been a mainstay at the Cannes Film Festival in France for the past four years, it seems that she may be missing this year’s festivities in order to wrap up some shooting for an upcoming film by Ashutosh Gowarikar. Ash was originally scheduled to attend Cannes along with new husband Abhishek Bachchan and Bollywood legend Amitabh “Big B” Bachchan, as well as Hrithik Roshan with whom Aishwarya stars in the film Jodha Akbar.
The plan has reportedly now changed so that Ashutosh Gowarikar can complete the shooting of the above mentioned Jodha Akbar. This is because monsoon season is right around the corner and they want to avoid the potential destruction of the movie’s expensive sets in Nitin Desai’s studio in Karjat, just on the outskirts of Mumbai.
The filming was already delayed because of the marriage between Aishwarya and Abhishek last month, and if Ash were to attend Cannes, it would result in a further delay of at least four or five days.
It’s unclear whether Abhishek will accompany his wife back to India or remain in France with his father to take in the festivities at Cannes.
