Amitabh Bachchan Did Not Sell TV Rights to Wedding
May 3rd, 2007

The Himalayan News is reporting that Amitabh Bachchan — known in many circles simply as the Big B — has not sold the television rights to the wedding between his son, Abhishek Bachchan, and his new daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, contrary to earlier rumors.
The rather intimate wedding, with only around 100 select attendees, took place over a span of three days, and there was very limited “insider access” to the festivities. As such, you can plainly see how valuable it would be to be grated exclusive television rights. Some have said that Amitabh was offered as much as $1.2 million to release the videos. An unnamed Indian network was to air the ceremony.
However, Bollywood mogul Amitabh Bachchan insisted that he would never cash in. “No such rights were given. And even if we were offered such a deal, we’d have rejected it outright. The wedding was a very private moment for our family and close friends.”
“You can judge me, condemn me and nail me for my professional conduct. But you can’t follow me with cameras into my home. The wedding was a private affair. And I maintain that.”
